What is Credit GPS?
Credit GPS is a Canadian credit-coaching service. It reads your credit-card statement data and tells you the one payment that matters next — which card, how much, by when — based on when each issuer reports to the credit bureaus. We are not a lender, not a credit bureau, and not a credit-repair company. We read balances, we never move money, and we never sell your data.
How does the Move work?
Your card issuer reports a snapshot of your balance to Equifax and TransUnion on your statement close date, not on your due date. Utilization — the ratio of what you owe to your limit — is read from that snapshot. The Move uses each card's statement close date to name one specific payment: the card, the amount, and a deadline that lands before the snapshot is taken. Same money, timed to the date the bureaus actually read. The mechanics are laid out in the statement-date trick.
Is my banking data safe?
You connect a card through Plaid, and the access is read-only. You enter your bank credentials with Plaid directly — we never see or store them. We see statement balances, credit limits, due dates, and reporting cycles. We never see your transactions, we cannot move money, and we never sell your data. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and you can unlink an institution at any time. The full details, including how long we keep each category of data, are in our Privacy Policy.
What does Credit GPS cost?
A free account includes a sample report, credit education, choosing your goal, and entering your own free Equifax and TransUnion numbers. The first 500 founding accounts pay no subscription fee, permanently. After the founding spots are taken, the paid subscription is $9.99 CAD per month and adds card linking through Plaid, the Move, a goal-ordered plan, and the payment calculator.
Do I need to link a credit card to start?
No. The free tier works without linking anything: you can explore a sample report, learn how Canadian credit reporting works, pick a goal, and type in the numbers from your own free bureau reports. Card linking through Plaid is part of the paid tier — it is what lets Credit GPS compute the Move from your real statement close dates instead of estimates.
I'm new to Canada and have no credit history. Is Credit GPS for me?
Yes — newcomers are one of the groups we built this for. A thin or empty file is not a penalty; the scoring model does not have evidence about you yet. The education covers how a first card that reports to both bureaus starts a file, why a secured card with a refundable deposit reports the same way as an unsecured one, and how statement timing works from day one. The site is available in eight languages: English, French, Spanish, Hindi, Punjabi, Chinese (Simplified), Tagalog, and Arabic. Start with a meaningful file in 90 days.
How is this different from the free score my bank shows me?
A score on its own is a reading, not a direction. Your bank's app tells you where you are; it rarely tells you which payment, on which card, by which date, would change what the bureaus read next cycle. Credit GPS starts from the mechanism — issuers report a snapshot at statement close — and turns it into one concrete move at a time. Different banks also show different scores from different models, which is normal and not an error.
Does Credit GPS guarantee my score will go up?
No, and no honest service can. Scores are computed by the bureaus' models from your file; no third party controls them. Credit GPS describes mechanisms — what your issuer reports, on which date, and how the models have historically treated changes like lower reported utilization — and shows forecast ranges, not commitments. Your results depend on your file, your issuers, and factors outside anyone's control.
Can Credit GPS fix errors on my credit report?
No. Credit GPS is not a credit-repair service and does not dispute errors on your behalf. Disputes go directly to the bureau that issued the report — Equifax Canada and TransUnion Canada each run their own free dispute process. Filing a dispute yourself costs nothing, and no company can file one faster than you can. If a report shows an error, our education points you to the right bureau's process.
How do I get my free credit report from Equifax and TransUnion?
Every Canadian has the right to a free copy of their credit file from both bureaus. Equifax Canada and TransUnion Canada each offer free online access to your file, with phone and mail options as well. Credit GPS includes a step-by-step guide, and you never upload the report itself — on the free tier you type in the numbers you want to track.
Where can I use Credit GPS, and in what languages?
Credit GPS runs in the browser at app.creditgps.ca, and an Android app is in review on Google Play, with iOS to follow. The website is available in eight languages: English, French, Spanish, Hindi, Punjabi, Chinese (Simplified), Tagalog, and Arabic.
How do I delete my account and my data?
From the app, or by following the steps at creditgps.ca/delete-account/. Linked financial-account data is deleted within 7 days of unlinking an institution or closing your account, and recommendation history within 30 days of closure. You can also email privacy@creditgps.ca to request access, correction, or deletion at any time.
